G-Sensor Iconia w 500 Problem

I installed win 8 on my Acer Iconia w500 tab.  Since then the g-sensor does not work.  I've read several discussions of this problem online and have tried their suggestions.  I've downloaded several drivers from the Acer site (the ones mentioned in discussions)  and video drivers from both the Acer site and AMD.  I've tried installing them compatible with win 7 and win 8.  I haven't yet been able to get it running.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled, booting between, but am not sure I'm deleting all the registry references.  Is there some order in which I must install them or some methodology I'm missing?  (please assume I know nothing about the registry or any workings "under the hood" of windows.)  I've noticed an app called device control which has been mentioned in some discussions.  It is an app available form Acer for win 7 but not 8.  I don't know its role in this issue but I can't get it to run when installed compatible with win 7.  It starts, then has a "this program has stopped working" message and it closes

My solution was to re-install Win 8 32-bit version instead of the 64-bit version and the g-sensor driver from Acer then worked.
