I've had my gaming laptop for almost 4 years and recently games have had some performance issues.

When i start a game, it takes a long time for it to launch and often while waiting it'll freeze my laptop and other applications become unusable. During gaming, sometimes the game will start off with low framerate and overall be slow before returning to normal, as well as that, i'll occasionally get lag spikes

I also can't have multiple applications open, for example, having discord open with some games slows down my laptop

I feel like this is probably due to my laptop being almost 4 years old, but im wondering what could cause these issues and how i could potentially solve them?

Have you got the last Nitro AN515-54 bios version 1.33 installed, have you got the last Nvidia driver installed as a clean install which completely removes all the previous Nvidia drivers, have you got all the windows updates installed for Win-10, as all these issues are essential for your laptop to work properly and maintain its performance.

If you have everything up to date then it’s a hardware issue like the PCIe 3x2 that this laptops M.2 slot speed is and it could be faulty and running slow, also check the ram if one of the modules are not faulty, check the power rail of your laptop or the battery might need replacing, as these laptop batteries max life is about 4 years, and your battery might not be charging fully and its affecting performance. Check and update all that for your laptop as if you have all that working properly your laptop will perform perfectly.
