Hi there, I have a new acer swift go 14 (SFG-73) with a core ultra 5 processor, which supposedly meant to provide around 8-9 hours battery backup but the same scenario is not in my case I hardly get 3-4 backup. I have heard people in this forum getting impressive battery backup even with older versions of swift go 14. It may worth mentioning that I sometimes use creative heavy load software, only at those times my laptop is set performance but when I'm reading pdfs or surfing the web I always switch to sleep mode to save battery power by lowering CPU clock speed. Despite such efforts I have not been able to get great battery backup. Please help me with this

I believe you are asking about battery life rather than backup, since any laptop has backup in that the laptop continues to run if the power goes out. The amount of time a system will run on battery is really dependent on what is running and how you have your environment setup. When testing facilities do the benchmarks to determine battery life they have the screen set as dim as it goes, the WiFi and Bluetooth turned off and as little going on as possible. In a more normal situation you might have the screen at half brightness with WiFi and Bluetooth on and using applications.

@bilsey yeah by backup I meant battery life , but the scenario you have mentioned in a more practical situation how much battery life I should expect on that?

It really is dependent on how you use the laptop. With my older Spin model I can run on battery running low impact games (like solitaire) for 3-4 hours before it wants to go into battery saver mode. From there I have another hour or so before it wants to shut down. I'm running about 66% screen brightness with WiFi and Bluetooth both enabled, but without Bluetooth activity. You should be seeing somewhat better than that, if setup the same way, just due to the newer hardware being more efficient.

How do you find the fan noise on this model? Does it get loud even when doing light tasks? I’m planning to buy this exact unit, but I’m concerned about the fan noise. Most reviews I’ve found mentioned abnormally loud fan noise, but their review units had the Ultra 7 155H, not the Ultra 5 125H .

    Can you share your experience?

The original poster didn't give a full model number, but from his description I believe it's one of the SFG14-73 SKUs. They come with five different CPU options:

The H and U processor types will have different battery life under normal use. The design isn't targeted at the gaming community, so Acer doesn't give us specs for the fan speed tables. They do give optimal battery life numbers though:

They do have dual fans and that means they needed more airflow to cool things adequately:

Fan noise is going to be fully dependent on your usage, which drives the CPU temperatures. If gaming the fans should be at their peak noise levels, if just web browsing without a lot of background tasks they should be at their quietest.
