What firewire card would be compatible with my desktop PC?

Acer Aspire TC-780, Desktop 8FH78EF, Board is Acer Aspire TC-780(KBL)

    You have a single PCIe x1 slot on the motherboard, so you should be able to use most of them.

    Thanks for your reply it's much appreciated. I actually want to copy mini dv tapes to my pc so that I can see and hear my lovely wife of 53 yrs who died 4 mths ago. I bought a usb to dv cable but nothing happens with that, seems I need some dv drivers to accomodate my camcorder.

    I'm sorry to hear that, I lost my wife in October, so can feel your pain… Some camcorders do require a driver, but the manufacturer's website should have that. A lot of them are really old though, so they might not have drivers for newer OSes. If that's the case you can sometimes get it working anyway by installing in compatibility mode…

    Research the cable that you bought.

    Does it match your camcorder.

    Do some googling, You Tube and Amazon Reviews on cables. Good Luck
