Acer removed bios files from NE56R and seeking an update

Acer removed the bios files from the device page of NE56R. I just need the 2.21 bios update to see if that works with a different CPU.

Thanks!

Just putting an update for anyone else that has this issue. As long as your using windows, there is a file on the internet Archive (I'm not linking it here since I don't want it removed) that has the bios update. That fixed the issue so I am now able to use the Core™ i7-2620M CPU. It looks like the NE56R uses the same bios as the Aspire V3-571G and that is the file that you'll find on the internet archive.

Thanks billsey, though you weren't able to fix the issue, its always nice to see activity on help forums.

That is a really, really old system, which is likely why they no longer have the file online. What CPU are you trying to install? The Intel based systems typically only support CPUs from the same generation as the chipset, so don't support jumping generations.

I'm going from Celeron® Processor B830 to Core™ i7-2620M. I tried swapping the CPU with the bios version 2.04, but it didn't post. Its not a newer CPU its just more powerful from what I can tell and supports Intel® Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O which is why I'm doing this.

Yeah, I don't see any obvious reason why that wouldn't work, they are both 35W and should use the same chipset. Are you sure the CPU itself is a working one?

Sadly, the laptop is the only system that I have that even has a chance to work with that CPU. The guy that I got it from on eBay is a known seller with 99.8% positive rating so I'm hesitant to say its the CPU without the BIOS being updated. After scouring the internet for decade+ old information the best that I have is that it has a mixed chance of working but there have been similar swaps on newer BIOS (Different mobo but same chipset), so that is what I'm latching onto.
