Hi @CarolePhelps Office is an application whose license must be purchased from Microsoft and is not included, this is a common practice in all brands of laptops or desktops, it is not just an Acer issue.

What some computers can include is a trial version valid for 30 days, after that period you can buy the license or you have to uninstall Office.

There may also be specific offers on some models with a 1-year or 6-month Oficce subscription like what you mentioned, but this type of offer must be reflected in the sales options of that equipment, do you know if it appeared?

An alternative to paid Office are the LibreOffice versions.

Microsoft allows the use of some applications in the cloud although they may contain some limitations:

Microsoft 365 - Subscription for Productivity Apps | Microsoft 365

    Sincerely.

Often though they provide a full year trial, rather than the default 90 days. Just use your Microsoft account to log into the computer and the free trial should be activated. After the year your MS365 license will have to be renewed.

The same thing has happened to me. I just bought an Acer laptop and it listed all the free stuff I was getting including 3 month game pass, 1 year Microsoft 365 1TB, Antivirus and VPN 1 year. But after the purchase the invoice doesn't have any of these listed and the only thing showing in the ,included with this computer' section in the apps library is the free 3 months game pass.

When I first switched on the laptop it did popup with all of the offers but Microsoft then installed a backup from my old laptop including OneDrive/Microsoft 365, which I signed into and my current OneDrive/Microsoft 365 subscription was found. Now the free offer has disppeared.

Yes, that sounds like it could have been the cause. Likely you needed to activate the one years Microsoft 365 trial first, so it was associated with your user account and only then wipe the Windows install by recovering the backup. You might be able to contact Microsoft to get the trial feature re-enabled.
