To upgrade your 512GB SSD to a 1TB SSD in your laptop, you can follow these steps:

    1. Purchase a 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD that is compatible with your laptop model. Some good options are the Samsung 980 Pro or the WD Blue SN570.
    2. Use a USB-to-M.2 adapter or enclosure to connect the new 1TB SSD to your laptop. This will allow you to access the new drive and clone your existing 512GB SSD to it.
    3. Download and install cloning software like Macrium Reflect or EaseUS Todo Backup. Use the software to create a full clone of your 512GB SSD to the new 1TB SSD.
    4. Once the cloning is complete, shut down your laptop and physically replace the 512GB SSD with the new 1TB SSD.
    5. Boot up your laptop, and you should now have your full system and data migrated to the new 1TB SSD.

The key is using the USB adapter to clone the existing drive before physically swapping it out. This allows you to transfer the entire Windows installation and all your data to the new larger drive

You can also install new microsoft windows from bootable usb to new ssd.

An alternative to cloning is using a large 2-4TB external USB backup drive like Seagate Backup plus ($80) that you will need anyway to periodically backup your system. No need to install Macrium Reflect or any other cloning programs, just use Windows7 BU-Image file creator in the Windows Control Panel (see picture). Save the VHD file created of your entire boot drive to the external backup drive and at the end Windows will ask if you want to make a Recovery disk, insert a 10GB USB flash drive in the USB port3.0 and click on Yes. This VHD file can be mounted in File Manager of any Windows PC to copy files and folders or just browse your data. Install the new SSD and boot with that Windows Recovery disk to restore your boot drive in <1 hour for 1TB data (see tutorial below).

That process actually takes more time than just cloning…
