I have just received delivery of an Acer Aspire XC-1760 Desktop.

I would like to fit a CD/DVD Writer to the computer as it does not have one fitted although there IS a slot for fitting one.

Can someone advise which make/type/&c. would be suitable and also supply details w.r.t. fitment and Motherboard/P.S.U. connections?

These are the Aspire XC-1760 desktops DVD RW Drives suitable for your desktop and what Acer fits oem into these desktops, the best way is to use the Acer part number to search the web for this part. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Pretty much any of the slimline drives will work, no need to purchase one with an Acer part number. Figure out what specs you need, so a super multi like those is fine, but you might want a Blue Ray instead…

Sometimes they put the hardware and cable in a bag that is in the box.

Thanks to everyone who replied with advice, much appreciated.

I have decided to order an external CD/DVD drive as this will be the easier install option, also it means that the drive will be 'horizontal'; as opposed to a vertically installed one in the computer; making it much better when putting in/taking out discs!!

    Thanks again.

Plus that will still give you an ODD when you inevitably upgrade to a newer computer in the future. I doubt any new designs will have that old technology installed by default, and they may even remove the ability to have one internally.
