Seeking troubleshooting advice for Acer Predator G9-792 790g power problem

I have an Acer Predator G9-792 (yeah it's old, so am I) that presents the following conditions.

With the laptop OFF (not charging the battery, as well). When I plug the AC adaptor into the laptops DC jack, the light on the ac supply goes OUT. Will come back on if I unplug from laptop, unplug from wall, wait (any amount of time, just a few seconds is needed), then plug back into wall.

This happens with the native PS, an adaptor from AFD that has worked in the past, and a Dell ac adaptor well within specs (the dell has a blue light ring around the adaptor barrel connector).

I have the battery out of the laptop currently.

I am going to disassemble and rework the dc jack first. Barring that, does someone have an area on the mboard I should check for burns\bad joints? I've also seen that the mosfet(s) in the power section should be tested. Anyone have info on how to test that?

Finally, I've also been told that a brand spankin new original Acer AC\DC power supply would do the trick. Not reasonable, as I have 3 working power supplies. Tested them all on a similar Dell XPS laptop.
