Hello,

After restarting my Asus Swift (model SF314-41) a message popped up on the lock screen saying that my PIN code is not available and I need to set a new one. When I click on "set my PIN code", it tells me that an application from the Microsoft Store is needed for this action and if I want to download it. Clicked Yes, but nothing happens.

Another thing, a window from explorer.exe keeps appearing saying that the system detected an overrun of a stack-based buffer in the application.

Can I somehow override it or is my laptop doomed?

First of all, it's Acer rather than ASUS. They are quite different companies. :)

That message doesn't sound normal at all. What are you running for your antivirus? You may have gotten bit by something that is trying to grab your PIN. Can you take a picture of the screen showing the message?

My mistake, I meant Acer, I´m used to work with Asus laptops a lot. There should be a McAfee antivirus installed. I don´t have the laptop on me right now, but I´ll post the picture as soon as I can.

Weird things sometimes happen when an installed antivirus license runs out without renewing. It's possible, but unlikely, that you have data logger malware installed and that's what's trying to get your PIN. We'll just have to see what the message really looks like.

Hey, sorry I didn´t catch up with you, but we took it to an expert and he fixed the issue. I can normally log into the laptop now, but anyways, thanks for your help :)
