Acer Predator Helios PH315-55

As long as I've had this laptop, it seems to be super slow dealing with files in any way. Many times, when I click on a folder to display it's contents I have to sit there & wait a long time before it finally does. Even a folder with say only 10 files inside of it sometimes, it's literally 20 seconds before they finally show & I can open them

Anyone? I could swear the PCs I used in the 90's did a quicker job then this

You have an Intel i7-12700H CPU plenty of RAM (32GB) to upgrade and 2 x NVMe SSD Gen4 slots (up to 2TB each), so check how much RAM is still available in Task Manager-Performance-Memory tab and what capacity SSD you have installed and is free. If that looks good, uninstall all bloatware, 3rd-party programs, trial versions, anti-virus and browsers (only use Windows Edge and Defender). If still slow Reset this PC without losing your files, type Reset in the Search Box. If you have Windows11 (recommended) make sure your version is fully up to date: W11 23H2 version 22631.3672 and check if you have the latest BIOS version
