Hullo. I recently had no sound at all coming out of my ACER Aspire E1-571 laptop. I re-installed speaker drivers and this cured the problem. However since then any recording I make using the internal microphone has an annoying level of noise behind the desired audio. Do you think re-installing the speaker drivers was the cause of this? What cure would you suggest for my microphone problem? Thanks in advance.

HI @grambuch there is no driver for Windows 7 or Windows 8 for the speaker on the device's download page, what file do I download and from where?

It's probably not a correct driver.

What version of Windows do you have installed?

    All the best.

Hi my laptop is running on Windows 10.

The computer was not designed to work with Windows 10, there are no guarantees that with Windows 10 everything will work correctly.

Thanks, I didn't know that. But everything worked fine up until a few days ago, including recording nice clean audio and listening to speech and music through the speakers or headphones. Listening is now fine, the only prob seems to be the noise behind new recordings. Do you think I should try downloading new drivers for the microphone? Thanks in advance.

Yes, please try it, but do it this way, uninstall the driver first, restart Windows, Windows will install a generic one, check at that time if the problem is solved, if it is, go to Windows Update.

    Thank you.

Hi, thanks for all your advice. Did what you said, still a background rumble. I will look into getting an external mic, I think.
