I have a Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop (AN515-57-5700) I just bought a 1TB Crucial MX500 SATA SSD for the HDD Upgrade, everything fits perfectly, except when I power it on, it doesn't boot, only bright black screen, logo doesn't appear, just stuck, funny thing, I remove the SSD, and it work just fine, I need more storage, so I bought the ssd, anyway I can somehow use the BIOS, to select the boot ssd? I tried but I figured out it doesn't work unless the acer logo pops up, and it doesn't, idk what else to do, please help as soon as possible, Thank You!

Yes, boot to BIOS with F2 and on the Information page see if HDD0 (boot drive) is your M.2 SSD or the Crucial 2.5" Sata drive. BIOS may prefer to boot from the Sata SSD. You can change the boot order in the Boot page of BIOS. Also change the Sata mode to AHCI if that is set to RAID or RST-Optane.

The problem unfortunately with connecting a SATA 2.5” drive to these laptops (speaking from personal experience with a Nitro AN515-56 laptop) is that you need to make sure that the HDD SATA flat cable is 100% connected perfectly into the mainboard SATA plug otherwise you get symptoms like you are getting, which means that that flat SATA HDD cable is NOT connected properly to the mainboard plug. Yes I know that this flat cable is very hard to connect but that is the case with this very awkward design that unfortunately Acer has adopted.

Btw, I have abandoned using the 2TB 2.5" SATA drive, as I've installed a 4TB M.2 SSD drive (that is allot lighter and has more capacity) and that 2TB 2.5" SATA drive that I intended using in this laptop, I've tuned into an external storage drive and bought a case to put it into with a USB-C cable to attach to this laptop, that works very well, just a suggestion for you to consider. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Make sure that your AN515-57 laptops SATA flat cable is 100% connected to the mainboard plug and that the mainboard SATA plug clip is clipped onto the cable for a full connection. otherwise, the SATA flat cable is NOT connected, and your laptop will not boot.

    Try this:

Without the new SSD installed, go to the laptop's BIOS, navigate to Main tab, and press CTRL+S to reveal the VMD controller. Disable it, save setting, and try installing the SSD again.
