SFG14-73 AcerSense and Acer Quick Launch stops working after upgrading to Windows 11 24H2

I installed the Windows 11 2024 Update, or Windows 11 24H2 on my Acer Swift Go 14 2024 (SFG14-73), and after upgrading AcerSense will no longer launch and Acer Quick Launch OSD no longer shows up. Tried reinstalling AcerSense (and even Acer Care Center) to no avail, restarted to no avail, updated through Microsoft Store but to no avail as well.

I can still roll back right now since it's in Insider at the moment, but it is clear that Microsoft will be rolling the update out to everyone very very soon considering it's now in the Release Preview Channel. I hope this gets fixed very soon.

They did do an update to AcerSense a month or two ago. Which version do you have installed?

24H2 version is a Windows Insider Release Preview channel, we are still on 23H2 build 22631.22672 (May 29, 2024 update). Uninstall 24H2 and update with KB5037853 and you will be OK.

I mean, I wanted to try it, and it wouldn't be long until Microsoft releases it considering it's now on the Release Preview channel. If Acer still has issues like this in a version Microsoft thinks is almost ready for general use, it's worrying at best.

I have KB50367853 still installed though with no issues.

It may take a year before that new Windows version is released. Be happy that everything is running fine with 23H2 😀

24H2 is slated to be released later this year.

If it isn't for the undiscovered ACPI/EC features, I would've been in Linux by now.

I've had the same experience, with NitroSense no longer working on my AN16-41 after upgrading Windows 11 to the 24H2 release preview. This unfortunately means that I can no longer control the CPU performance mode, fans, keyboard lighting, or other features of my Nitro 16. The advice you're getting here (revert to 23H2) is ridiculous. 😕

The issue seems to be related to .NET runtime, but I've not been able to solve it as yet. I'm really hoping someone will recognize the impending disaster this will very soon represent for many Acer laptop users (hence for Acer itself) and will come up with a real solution.

MS release the H2 version usually in October, and rolls them out to specific hardware over the next year. We've got users who haven't had 23H2 pushed yet for their models… The Windows Store version of AcerSense is the generic version, not the one that's tweaked for your hardware. Try the one on the Acer's support page for your SFG14-73 model. It's an older version number, but specific to your actual model.

What about us on the Insider Program that test and give feedback? Again, 24H2 is now on the Release Preview channel, almost ready for release yet Acer doesn't seem to be ready still. Does this mean that just because we use Acer hardware, we couldn't contribute to Windows anymore?

Try the one on the Acer's support page for your SFG14-73 model. It's an older version number, but specific to your actual model.

No dice either, and 'Acer Quick Panel OSD' doesn't even exist on the support downloads.

Those of you who test, test with not completely functional releases. Acer likely won't release a new version until after 24H2 is released, and then only if Microsoft hasn't fixed whatever they broke during the development. As a beta tester for Microsoft, you are expected to send these types of bug reports to them, so they can diagnose and fix them before general release.

I thought Quick Panel OSD was part of the AcerSense package, not a stand alone app…

So because the Windows revert completely trashed my install, I decided to make a clean install instead. Because the install USB won't see the SSD, I decided to do a 'reset' from the Recovery instead then make an upgrade from there.

Didn't update anything after the OOBE, went straight to upgrading to 24H2 from the USB I made from the ISO, and AcerSense works now.

For the future, the USB install just needs the proper drivers on the install flash drive, so you can load them at the 'where do I install' screen. In your case they are the IRST drivers. Microsoft doesn't include them in their base build, likely due to some licensing issues with Intel, so you have to install them manually at that point in the install.
