List of supported RAM speeds and CL on Acer Aspire A715-72G-74HL 2019

Hello,

My laptop happens to be an Acer Aspire 7 A715-72G-74H, which comes equipped with an Intel i7-8750H CPU and an Intel HM370 chipset. Unfortunately, it does not support XMP profiles, and I am unable to change the RAM frequency or CAS latency timings in the BIOS. The MOBO is Charmeleon CFS.  I will buy a new kit 2x8 of RAM with speeds up to 3200MHz CL22 but I need to know my available speeds and timings.

Is there a set of JEDEC profiles or tested RAM speeds that should work well with my machine. My current is 2400MHz CL 17, but i don't know if that is the only one or is the laptop much more flexible with values it can use. The manufacturer of RAM said that they have stable speeds at lower frequencies.

Hi,

You have memory support up to 2666MHz because of the chipset of the CPU, if you have 2400MHz the CL value will be 17, as the frequency increases the CL value also will be higher, so the CL value for a 2666MHz RAM will be 19, if you install 2x8GB 3200 MHz memory kit, it will downclock to 2666MHz. so it's entirely up to you, JEDEC profile memory modules are normally green in colour(like the ones in the Crucial link: https://uk.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k4g4sfs8266/ct12565788

So my laptop should be able to downclock the memory. The Aspire 7 from 2019 (my model) should have the ability to set itself sing available profiles in from the module SPD? It isn't too old or something similar. I'm not having luck in finding old threads considering this topic. Again the model is A715-72G-74HL.

Yes, from other users of this model also demonstrates that it can go up to 2666MHz frequency and not anything above, you can view them in my links and the details I have given in my answer was from the Service Guide from Acer.

I have forgotten to mention that to avoid any RAM which has XMP profile, like Kingston HyperX or any Corsair RAM modules.

I will go for G.Skill Ripjaws F4-3200C22D-16GRS or Crucial CT2K8G4SFRA32A. The ripjaws are cheaper so I will probably go for them. These RipJaws shouldn't have XMP as their timings are 3200MHz with CL22?

But I'm waiting from costumer support so they confirm they are not XMP and if they have SPD profiles with lower speeds. Otherwise I will go for 2400MHz crucial which are more expensive.

You are welcome, that's a very good idea to get the confirmation before buying the RAM, google search shows that it has XMP profile but as you have already asked for the support, wait until they replay you, I would opt for buying another brand of 2666MHz modules, because they will be cheaper, you don't have to buy big brand name memory, try any brand with JEDEC profile RAM sticks.

The F4-3200C22D-16GRS seems to not be XMP. Even thought it says it is XMP rated at 3200MHz. I saw NewEgg reviews with CPU-Z timings and non had XMP profiles. I was also lucky to find a screenshot that showed that the module has a 1333 profiles with CL19. (here is a screenshot with a different module with XMP but i believe that the regular one has the same setup).

I have also gotten conformation from GSkill that the modules should have speeds at 2666MHz and 2400MHz, and one person saying that they had it downclocked on 7th generation intel to 2400MHz and that it works nicely. That was Asus Rog laptop.

In my country all 2666MHz kits are unavailable or much more expensive with delivery so I'm avoiding that.

At this point if it doesn't work I am unlucky as most of the resources say it works.
I will update the post accordingly.

Got the Ripjaws. They work in my case. Stable 2666MHz. No errors so far. They also don't have XMP so no trouble with that.

I know a lot of people who work with this would say that I worried too much but I had trouble finding concrete evidence and no manufacturer would give definitive response and I couldn't return the merchandise in my country.

So I hope this helps if anybody will have similar questions.
