I bought an external monitor yesterday to use with my laptop. Yesterday when I connected it, it automatically displayed the screen. Today it says "no signal". My laptop detects the second screen but it is just black. All cables are connected (HDMI to USB C), the input is HDMI, the screen it on.

I had a similar issue with my ACER external monitor showing "no signal." Here’s how I fixed it:

First, I double-checked that the monitor was properly connected to my laptop using the HDMI cable. Then, I made sure both the monitor and laptop were powered on. Next, I pressed the input/source button on the monitor to select the correct input source (HDMI in my case).

When that didn’t work, I restarted my laptop and reconnected the HDMI cable. Finally, I went into my laptop’s display settings (right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings") and selected "Detect" to find the monitor. This resolved the issue, and the monitor started displaying my laptop screen.

The external monitor is detected and flashes the laptop screen for a second at a time every minute or so but will not stay on.

It might be a problem with the cable itself, do you have access to another to test with?
