Why do Acer make such poor-quality laptops?

I had the C720 model previously and it was OK, but the more recent model CB311-9H is poor quality:

speakers resonate the case when the volume is 75% plus

3 years of use and the screen printing of the a, s, c keys are nearly disappearing

today the left hinge broke when I tried to close the lid

A real piece of junk.

Hopefully Acer will go out of business. [Content Removed]

The Chromebook CB311-9H is a Chrome OS laptop and as they say “not the sharpest tool in the shed”) of the Acer products in their range, also this Chromebook was first released in 2019 and is a 5 years old design.

A broken hinge or the screen printing of the a, s, c keys is NOT unusual or such a tragic thing to happen, as on many laptops after 3 years of intensive use this happens, as and also, and if you don’t look after your laptop that also happens. The hinge problem is the same and can break with misuse as it depends where you have stored your laptop, as different weather conditions affect the plastic material that the laptop is made from differently and the plastic gets brittle and cracks, as at the hinge mounting points there are tremendous forces that break the plastic, so be aware of that also. But its easily fixed with a new bottom case that is not very expensive and can be swapped over easily same as a new keyboard. So I can’t see what the problem is?

Anyway, if you want a decent Acer laptop buy a better model than a laptop win a Chrome OS or a Chromebook, I suggest a compact laptop like the new SwiftX 14” or 16” range of laptops which are the more recent design as the new Acer laptops are excellent quality spec laptops and I've never had problems with over 25 years of using them. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

An actual broken hinge is unusual. Most often the issue isn't a broken hinge, it's when the hinge pulls loose from the case. Under warranty that's fixed with a case replacement, in the real world (after warranty) it's fixed with a strong epoxy to rebuild the screw holes. After repair it will likely be just as thin, but a bit heavier with the extra material around the screws.
