Nitro 5 AN515-45 nearly all ports are broken

It might be unlucky me…

But I've had my Nitro 5 for about a year and a half. Never leaves my desk, I do regular maintenance (every 6 months, inside dust removal and cleaning), repasted the CPU/GPU and have experience in repairing laptops and fixing PC's.

2 out of 3 USB ports, just crumbled out of existence (the plastic guides inside the ports that keep the pins spread) just broke off.
My HDMI stopped working, my camera and mic (apparently the same device) stopped working.. Out of nowhere became boiling hot (in the bezel where they are located) and poof, done.

1 Working usb port and USB type c port left (usb type c accessories for some dumb reason work only in 1 position, not ''rotatable''.

for reference, my previous DELL gaming laptop, has been working fine for the last 6 years.

Am i unlucky, or is Acer still the crappy brand it used to be years ago?

You are very unlucky 😀 is all that I can say, and if this laptop is only 12 months old then you should have sent/taken your laptop to Acer for repair before and when these components were malfunctioning, as all these issues didn’t happen all at once.

I suggest that you contact Acer in your country and explain to them what happened to your AN515-45 laptop as these are very unusual circumstances of components failing and Acer are very reasonable, and you could be lucky, and they might repair your laptop (I can’t guarantee this but its worth a try).

Btw, the USB ports are on a separate IO board and they can be changed very easily, the HDMI port needs to be replaced by a technician as it requires microscopic soldering tools and microscope to change. Below are some of the parts that you will need to repair your laptop so hope that this helps you out, good luck:

I was wrong, after doing some digging, the laptop was purchased 990 days ago. So not a year…definitely went faster than i thought. With that in mind, the breaking of the parts is still not normal, as you mention.
Can not contact Acer (even if it was less than a year). I ordered it abroad (from Thailand to Myanmar), warranty is not an option, but nevertheless a good suggestion.

After doing some research, I found those spare parts on TaoBao (chinese online store) and they are on its way. Will replace them all when they arrive.

In regards to the HDMI, indeed, I'm not able to repair that. No proper shops in this country.
