Why Can't I Change the Pulsar Lighting on my Predator Helios 18 Keyboard?

My laptop is stuck on pulsar lighting and I find it difficult to type with all this flashing going on.

I've struggled with keyboard lighting ever since purchasing this laptop. Predator Sense app didn't work and found a downgraded version that did… for a short while.

Then an Windows 11 update came out that controlled this through windows, but it doesn't change to what is selected and blocks the Predator app from making any changes. If I disable Windows control to then use the Predator app, there are no options present in PS to change the lighting mode. So again, stuck on pulsar lighting.

My only way of stopping it is to use the keyboard Fn to dim lighting to 0 but I have to do this every time the laptop wakes up. I would like some keyboard lighting but not pulsing.

I tried a third party App, SignalRGB but doesnt detect any RGB devices.

I cannot find any solution… any one else???

Hi, I have an acer nitro an16-41. I recently updated the nitrosense app got an update and ever since that update i couldnt go back to global lighting mode for my keyboard it is stuck on area control (i can still change the colors for each area but cant go back to global lighting mode). Anyone have a solution to this?

I'm having this exact same issue. I didn't have a problem controlling the lights but after this most recent Predator Sense app update, my Global controls are locked and can't be changed as well as my keyboard flashing each time I launch my laptop. The only way around this is launching my Predator Sense app and opening my lighting control to Area control and it does a little reset to whatever color pattern I have chosen.

STILL NEED AN ACTUAL FIX FOR THIS SITUATION!!

There is no "fix" , you need to learn how to use your laptop and set it up right . Try this : https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/comment/1288063#Comment_1288063

I had the same problem on my PH18-71 so i googled and found a solution that works for me on reddit. The solution is in the last post in this reddit thread:

    www.reddit.com/r/AcerNitro/comments/15gyr3k/pulsar_lighting_for_acer_predator_helios_16/

In short restart "Acer Display Backlight Control Service" and set it to Delayed start.

    I run Predator Sense V5.0.1463.

Also you have to disable Windows 11 Dynamic Lighting (Settings > Personalization > Dynamic Lighting) otherwise W11 controls the lighting.

Pulsar lighting stopped working for me again, restarting the service does not help, maybe the problem is something else. At least it worked as long as i needed to change the key colors as i want them.

Restarted the computer with "Acer Display Backlight Control Service" set to Delayed start and now it works again. If it Pulsar lighting stops working again i will try another restart and see if it helps.

My problem on my PH18-71 was that global lighting worked but area lighting did not. I could change color on preset zones but i could not change color on individual key/keys because key selection locked up.

Maybe not the same problem as yours.

But for my problem i think i have found a solution, go to Settings > Personalization > Dynamic Lighting and set:

Use Dynamic Lighting on my devices = Off (disable W11 control of lighting)

Compatible apps in the foreground always control lighting = On (let Acer Predator control lighting)

    Restart the computer

At least it seems to work for me.

Works today and has worked all day, maybe the solution was the right one.
