Hello yall, I just bought an Aspire A515-56. I started using it on Monday and a bit on Friday. In like 2 hours I lost about 60% of my battery. I wasn't doing anything that required a lot of power, I was just surfing the internet. I tried to optimize the battery through settings but nothing seems to work out it. Is this normal for a new laptop to use this much battery?

Yes it is, nothing you can do about it other than activating the Battery Saver and change Power Plan to "Best Power Efficiency" in Power and Sleep settings (right click on the battery icon taskbar). Don't use Acer Care 80% battery limiter as that reduces the battery capacity by >20% and accept the fact that a battery will last 4 hours only with the above settings or <3 hours if you use High Performance Power Plan. Also leave the adapter plugged in 24/7 so the battery is always fully charged. This is a Q4 2020 model, have you checked the battery condition in Windows Battery Report yet?

The Aspire A515-56 laptop was first released on the 2020/08/14, check the date of manufacture of your laptop and see if its not very old and your laptop didn't sit in its box for years before you got it, as that could be one of the causes of why the battery charge gets depleted so quickly. Otherwise, do a cmd prompt battery report and see if the Cycle count and the Full charge capacity to Battery capacity ratio are not too great, which could affect the battery charge of your A515-56 laptop. Good luck.

How to generate a Battery Report in Windows 10 and Windows 11

    • Search for Command Prompt, right-click the top result, and select the Run as administrator option.
    • Type the following command to create a battery report on Windows 11 and press Enterpowercfg /batteryreport /output "C:\battery_report.html"
