It runs hot and likes to shut down while using. Runs 50 degrees CPU while ideal and runs 91 degrees while playing a small games like minecraft. It will shut itself down and wake back up. My fans are running on high now. Never had this problem till recently. Any Idea?

What is you exact Nitro 5 model numbe, should be something like AN515-XX as that would help. Have you cleaned the cpu/gpu fans and laptop vents, have you changed the cpu/gpu paste (liquid metal is preferable) and the VRAM pads (this is especially done for an old Nitro 5 laptop) as all these maintenance procedures have to be done every 12 months with new paste and fan/vents cleaning and the VRAM pads every 2 years, as that is why your laptop is overheating. Do all that as afterwards your Nitro 5 laptop will not overheat, also make sure that you have windows up to date and the latest Nvidia game ready driver installed and also play your games through the Nvidia GeForce Experience software and make sure that your laptop is running the latest bios version and gpu firmware. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

The AN515-45 is a 4 years old laptop and together with its AMD Ryzen 5 5600H cpu and its integrated Radeon Graphics has a dedicated gpu of either the Nvidia RTX3060 or the RTX3070 or the RTX3080 and the cpu and gpu have to be cooled properly as this is set to an OS shut down at 100°C and a CPU PROCHOT at 98°C and if the laptop reaches those temps your laptop OS or CPU will turn off automatically and that is probably why its doing so as the paste and pads need replacing.

Also, check the cpu/gpu fans with the Nitro Sense software if the temps are operating oem first, or better still, take the thermal module and fans off and get the fans operating by injecting voltage to make them operate and see if there are no abnormalities or there are no shaft/bearing noise or irregularities which means that the fan is faulty, as that could be a major cause of high temps and your laptop turning off.

You also need to make sure that this laptop has clean fans and vents, then take the thermal module off and clean the old paste off the cpu/gpu and use a high end paste and pads from the Thermal Grizzly range of Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal (as that is excellent for reducing high cpu heat) but use the Kryonaut Extreme normal paste for the gpu and then use their Minus Pad Extreme (comes in 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm and 3mm thicknesses) to put onto the VRAM chips where Acer uses a pad paste.

Note: your Nitro 5 AN515-45 is a 4-year-old design and due to its AMD cpu it will overheat as it needs good fan cooling and crossflow ventilation, and it also needs to have new paste and pad maintenance, as if you don’t and also clean your laptops fans and vents then the laptop will overheat. If the above doesn’t work, then you need to take your laptop to a technician so that they can do a full diagnostic on your laptop cpu/gpu and fix why your AN515-45 is overheating and turning off. Good luck.

AN515-45 mainboard with thermal module and cpu/gpu fans removed. Put thermal pads onto the chips with the pink paste and repaste the cpu with liquid metal and the gpu with normal paste:
