Dear forum!
I recently bought the Predator: great brightness, great colors, razor sharp.
However, I've spent over two days trying to adjust the monitor and haven't found
a satisfactory solution. I've already tried all sorts of settings and the image
always looks a bit washed out and artificial or "flat", as if the image were stuck
to the inside of the monitor surface. Not even the selection of TV or film standard
color spaces such as Rec.709 change something here; everything has a "flat" look;
also when gaming, although I notice it most when watching films and it bothers me
a lot. The Predator doesn't have various "smoothers" or "enhancers" that TVs
usually have by default and are responsible for an unnatural and flat effect,
otherwise I would have turned them off long ago. I just want the most natural,
effortless image possible.
My Windows 7 PC is already an older model with an Nvidia Geforce card
(also older, around 10 years), I use it to run the Predator at 3840 x 2160 and
60Hz. My HDMI cables are 4K compatible. But it's not worth it for me to buy a
high-end PC for the Predator - I also don't think that the PC is responsible
for the picture-issue, since I also tried out a 4K TV monitor in between and the
picture was OK.
Do you have an idea where I could start here or how I could optimize the settings
of the Predator (possibly via contrast and/or black level?) so that this effect
mentioned above goes away? Or is that just the look of the Predator?
I've had a 32-inch random full HD screen from Samsung for the last few years and
was happy with it - except for its size (since I mainly play older games anyway).
If necessary, I'll just continue with the old screen, but I think that the
Predator is a great product and that there should be a solution somehow.
thank you
Kim
