Can someone help me update my broswer in acer Chromebook C731T

So, I have just gotten this acer Chromebook C731T today. Its needless to say, way more than second-handed. It had been reset and so forth. So, when I turned it on and hooked to my wifi, it needed to update. I did that. It did state that that would be the final update that we could get. My issue is though that when i go to the google play store or the chrome web store to download apps, it tells me that i need to update my browser. i go to try to update the browser and it tells me that i am using the the up to date browser and have got it set to auto update if needed. How can I get this thing to update the browser so I can get my apps downloaded?
