i have an acer aspire a315-51. yesterday i had my laptop open on a game.

i stepped away for a bit. soon after, the screen turned off, which i just assumed was it just going to sleep. but then i noticed a blue error screen displayed, saying that the laptop had run into a problem and that it would restart automatically. it did, but then the “no bootable device” screen showed up.

i then tried to look up the problem, in hopes of finding a solution. turns out, it’s pretty common so i was able to find supposed solutions fairly quickly.

one of the solutions was to open up the bottom and to make sure the hard drive was was securely connected. once open, i saw that the drive was connected. so that wasn’t the problem.

another solution was to open the BIOS menu via f2 and to make sure the date/time were right and to change the boot mode from UEFI to legacy. i did both of these and saved the settings.

the laptop reset and instead of booting normally (how the solution said it would) it brought me to a different screen that said many things, but most importantly, “no bootable device — insert boot disk and press any key”, basically the same error just displayed differently.

i’m not quite sure what to try next and if there even is any way to fix this problem.
