Aspire 5 15 screen brightness key f6 often doesn't lighten and even darkens the screen

Windows 11 (up to date)

Aspire 5 15 ( a couple of months old)

I have noticed that my screen quite often is dark. If I use f6 which should brighten it, it actually darkens it - and so does f5 so they aren't swapped over! the only way to lighten the screen is to us the brightness slider on the task bar menu or reboot sometimes helps - which is what I'm about to do…

Any suggestions anyone?

Battery saver is controlling the screen brightness, turn that off: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/turn-on-or-off-lower-screen-brightness-when-using-battery-saver-in-windows-11.2922/ Also ambient brightness in Intel Graphics control, Night Light in Windows and Bluelight/color intelligence in Acer Quick Access all affect the screen brightness so turn that off too.

Keep the adapter/charger plugged in 24/7 to make sure the battery is always fully charged and will stop Power Plan to dim the screen (that with keyboard backlight use a lot of power).

Thanks but this isn't a battery problem - the battery is fully charged. As I said the f6 key isn't working as it should.

But did you disable the Battery Saver in Windows, I mentioned Power Plan not just the battery condition. 😉

Can you use function left/right arrow to darken/brighten the screen? Used to work some old models.
