aspire swift SF114-34 Loss of WIFI and Bluetooth

I have an aspire swift SF114-34. When I unplug it and move it, the WiFi and Bluetooth not only disconnect, but are not even available to turn on. Sometimes a quick restart will fix the issue, but other times I have to reinstall the drivers. I've also noticed, that the slightest knock on the front of the device will also disable them.when left in the same place, plugged in everything is fine. To my knowledge the laptop has not received a bang or been dropped, the problem seemed to start when an extension cord that it was plugged into blew.

Has anyone on the forum had an issue like this, and knows how to resolve it? Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

OK. Seems intermittent physical disconnection. Hopefully, dirty or loose connection and not a bad solder ball.

Remove 11 screws from bottom cover and pry cover off with a credit card wedge starting from the hinge end. Remove tape from battery pack connector and pull it off the mainboard. Remove 2 screws holding battery. Remove battery. The look for the m.2 bt-wifi card. Unscrew it. It should pop up in its m.2 mainboard socket. If possible leave the antenna wires attached because their mini coax plugs are very fragile. Plug the card back in at an angle. Push it down but don't screw it down yet. Release. Pull the card out again. Repeat process a half-dozen of so times to help clean the contacts and pins in the mainboard socket. Then button it all back up.

Now I have no chance of getting then to pop back in.

Why not? Make sure the plug's center connector is straight, centered & slips into the center connector on the card. They're too loose with poor signal transfer if tape has to be used to hold them. Gently squeeze the outer ring of the plug or card receptacle with tweezers or your fingernail so they fit snuggly together

Check battery health in Acer Care Center app.

Hi Jackie, Thank you for your reply. I've done all the tests in the care centre. All "Good".

How do you suppose the extension cord shorted out?

I heard a pop and saw a flash from the extension it was plugged into. The charger appears fine, it's when I unplug it I lose them. Could the WiFi and Bluetooth cards have come lose? Like I said, to my knowledge it's not been banged or dropped.

Possible. It's a single m.2 wifi+bt card. Also possible its contacts or antenna have issues Please post a screenshot of Device Manager. as it opens without manually expanding any Device Manager folders.

OK. Keep Device Manager running. Then unplug & move the machine around trying to make it lose wifi. What happens to Device Manager when wifi is lost?

Sometimes it comes back after a restart. This time no. I usually reinstall the Intel and all is good again.

The reboot and/or driver re-installation might mean the driver is somehow being corrupted when this happens. Try to make it happen again. Then immediately open 'Acer Care Center. Run checkups on boot drive, battery & wifi .

The care centre will not run after losing the WiFi?

"Acer care centre is still initializing. Please try again later".

That is all that shows when running care centre.

When wifi is working, does the Acer Care Center also show a wifi checkup?

Does it happen EVERY TIME you unplug or move it? Or just sometimes?

Every time Jack. Also when the front left edge is knocked. That's what got me thinking it could be a loose card.

What happens when you uninstall the wifi driver from Device Manager when it fails with the yellow warning symbol then simply re-boot?

I have to uninstall, then restart. Install the driver again, another restart and it's good.

Do you mean Windows did not automatically re-install the driver by itself on re-boot?

No Jack, it never has all the time this has been happening.
