I have a Acer Aspire V5 571p and am putting the touch screen in but for some reason the flat cable as seen in picture below won't stay down on the lcd

what can I use to keep it on there tape or two-sided tape ? any ideas?

Thank you.

If the connector wedges or latches that hold the ribbon have broken off, the gold-plated contacts on the ribbon and the board won't press together. In this case, single-sided tape may be used to press them together as long as it doesn't cover any of the contacts on the ribbon or board. Double sided tape can't be used because it would cover the contacts.

this is one the single pad see attached below not the connector one but the pad that has sticky (used to have) glue that kept it from coming off the screen it self again see below

    Thank you

Fairly blurry in the enlarged photo posted on line. Hard for me to see exactly what you're up against. But again, you don't want to cover any gold-colored contacts on the ribbon end or screen. Only the backside or opposite side of the ribbon with single-sided tape to assure that the contacts align with and are electrically in contact with corresponding contacts on the screen. Looks to me like electrician's tape could be placed over the bottom part of the yellow label and onto the screen to keep the ribbon in place.

Thank you what kind of tape or does it matter as it is only going to hold that ribbon down onto the back of the screen.

Black electrician's tape from HomeDepot, Lowes, WalMart etc.

Often a friction tape. It's sort of tacky or goo-ey on both sides. Aids wrapping multiple layers as well as acting as a double-sided tape to keep cables in place. It can get messy. Tends to pick up dust & debris more easily and loses ability to re- stick if disturbed.
