1-When my Nitro-5 is fully charged, but then left disconnected from the charger and not used, the battery discharges to almost zero in about 3 days.

2-When the Nitro 5 is connected to the charger, but charger disconnected at the wall receptacle, battery discharges in 2 days when not used. The PC was purchased in July 2023, at Costco as a X-mas present for my dear wife. Used only sparingly in order to install some software like MS-Office. The notebook has W-11.

Can you help?

What charger are you using, if a universal USB-C charger get a laptop 100-Watt charger with a fixed USB-C cord. If you are using the 80% battery charge limiting option in Acer Care Center disable that option and make sure the battery is charged 100% 24/7. Disable Hibernate and Fast Startup, maybe you are not shutting down the system completely. Reset BIOS to factory defaults with F9 and safe the BIOS settings or update BIOS. Check if Windows is fully updated. Turn off the option USB keeps charge when power is off in AcerSense or Quick Access and also turn off USB Selective Suspend in Advanced Power Plan settings. Disconnect all peripherals from the laptop including monitor and charger/adapter when shutting down the system and the battery is fully charged. Batteries discharge a bit when not in use but what you described is not normal.

There could be a few potential reasons for this behavior:

    1. Fast Startup Feature: Some laptops, including Acer Nitro 5 models, have a feature called "Fast Startup" or "Fast Boot." When this feature is enabled, the laptop doesn't fully shut down but instead enters a hybrid
sleep mode that allows it to start up faster. In this mode, some components, including the battery, remain partially active, leading to a slow discharge over time. To check if this feature is enabled, go to
your Power Options settings and disable "Fast Startup."

    2. Wake-on-LAN (WoL) or Wake-on-USB: Certain settings, such as Wake-on-LAN or Wake-on-USB, can cause the laptop to wake up from sleep or shutdown when it receives network or USB signals. If this happens, the laptop will consume power from the battery, leading to discharge. You can disable these settings in the BIOS or UEFI settings of your laptop.

    3. Background Processes: Sometimes, certain background processes or software can prevent the laptop from entering a full shutdown state, leading to battery discharge. Check your Task Manager to see if any
applications or processes are running even after shutting down. You can also try performing a clean boot to identify if any third-party applications are causing the issue.

    4. Faulty Hardware: In some cases, a faulty battery or power management system may be causing the issue. If your laptop is relatively new and still under warranty, consider contacting Acer's customer support for
assistance or taking the laptop to an authorized service center for diagnosis and repair.

    5. BIOS/UEFI Update: Updating your laptop's BIOS/UEFI firmware to the latest version may address potential bugs or issues related to power management and battery discharge. However, updating firmware should be
done with caution, and it's advisable to follow the manufacturer's instructions or seek professional help if you're unsure about the process.

If you've tried the above solutions and the problem persists, it's best to seek help from Acer's customer support or a qualified technician who can thoroughly diagnose and address the issue.
