Hello,

I would like to know if there is any other method of fixing the problem with my Acer Swift 3 that is not accepting a microphone of any headset and is only allowing me to use it's own built-in microphone. I've already checked if everything is updated, it is not a Window's problem. Or does my laptop require repair service if so?

If you are using a wired headset, it could be the plug not recognized by Windows/Realtek drivers, try a different plug or a USB adapter:

    If Bluetooth, run the Troubleshooter.

You are ALREADY using your headset mic. It is NOT a separate item.

    1. Make sure the mic mute button on your headset is not pressed.
    2. Plug in your headset, the computer will ask you "which device did you plug in", select "headset". That's it.
    3. Lightly tap your headset mic, the "microphone array" signal meter will jump, thus verifying that you are using the headset mic.

Try this troubleshooting steps. Hit the Windows key , then open the Settings menu. Go to Privacy & security, then scroll down to the App permissions section, and click on Microphone. Look at the Microphone access and Let apps access your microphone sections, then make sure that the toggle button is turned On. Check if your mic is working now.

When you first plug a device into the audio port there is usually a popup asking what type of device it is. If you answered "headphones" instead of "headset" the mic will be disabled, since headphones don't have a mic. You can use the audio utilities to change that setting or remove the device, reboot then plug it back in and answer correctly this time.
