My Aspire A-515-54 is failing to boot. I have dedicated it to a Ubuntu 22.04 LTS machine. Windows has been deleted. My investigation so far tells me I have a mismatch in the /etc/fstab file which manages disk assembly on a Linux system. System also does not recognize a bootable thumb drive. One article suggested that I use the command /etc/fstab command to update the UUIDs. My computer has a file /etc/fstab with no contents. An empty file. Another article told me to try sudo e2fck -f -b 32768 -y /dev/sda. This command e2fck is "not found." I have access to the grub recovery commands and the initramfs commands. One additional thing, when I installed Ubuntu, the solid state hard drive was reformatted NTFS.
I fee there has to be a way to fix this computer. Anyone got suggestions? I don't have another computer to put the hard drive in, if I take it out of the Acer Aspire. HELP and thanks in advance.
