Keyboard light problems Triton 17X is there a way to disable the lighting all together?

Hi I have a problem with my keyboard backlighting.

It will not respond to my settings in predator sense if I have my USB dongle for wireless mouse and keyboard inserted at startup. Instead it goes to some standard setting of just lighting up random keys at random intervals.

I will use this machine for work among other things and I dont want to go into a meeting and have my computer tell everyone I'm 12 years old.

If there is no solution to this problem is there a way to disable the lighting all together? that would be better!

Yes, but rather mature 13 year olds in your meetings might find this behavior entirely appropriate. 😁

Press FN+F11 to decrease backlight brightness. FN+F12 to increase. You can also try pressing FN+F10 to disable touchpad to see if this gives you more control in PredatorSense.

Still no solution for this issue?

Now I can not adjust my backlight even when I dont have a USB dongle at startup!

I might have to make this a guarantee issue. :(

Unfortunately, this is probably not a hardware problem that can simply be fixed under warranty. If you have the PTX17-71 model, go to this link and try to update the BIOS firmware and PredatorSense app to see if it gives you more control over the keyboard lighting. Others have complained about this issue for other gaming models, so I expect that it will eventually be addressed if the latest updates still don't work for your model.

I will try to update the BIOS.

I however feel that it absolutely should be covered by warranty when the product does not function as it it supposed to, hardware or wherever the issue lies!

I think this is still the main issue most people have with these powerful gaming laptops used for business purposes. Unfortunately for those of us who aren't gamers, it is considered a desired "light show" feature by the gaming market clientele for which these models were primarily intended. Believe it or not, some pay extra for cooling fans, chips and modules that light up like fireworks to impress other gamers.
