Aspire 3 Spin14 internal speakers and Zoom speaker test

I am setting up a new Aspire 3 and everything is working OK so far, but when I open the Audio section of the Zoom app configuration and click on Test Speaker, I get no sound from the internal speakers.

The speakers work OK if I run the Zoom microphone test and play that back, or if I connect a Bluetooth speaker and run the Zoom speaker test through that, or if I play a YouTube video, or if I run the Zoom speaker test on another laptop's internal speakers.

I am mystified. Does anyone have an idea why this might be happening?

    Solved!

I went to the Realtek Audio Console app and in the Speakers section I turned off Noise Cancellation.

Now the speaker test works as expected.

Does Zoom think you have external speaker or a headphone/headset connected? It might be using a different output than the system is set for.

    Good thought, but no.

Here the built-in speakers are selected. Normally if you click on Test speaker, it plays a little tune, but I get nothing. If I select a Bluetooth speaker, the tune plays through that. If I click on Test Mic, I can say something and when I click again it plays through the internal or the Bluetooth speaker, whichever is selected.
