I have had this computer for about 17 months.
The parts per CPU-Z (as i cant post pictures)
CPU: Intel Coke I7 12700FMOBO:(Predator specific prebuilt)
Chipset Alder Lake rev2
Southbridge H670 rev 11
Bios R01-B0 (date 3/28/23
Mainboard Model
Predator PO5-640 (0x000004FC - 0x2F8948C0)GPU: PCI-E 4.0 RTW 3070 (brand PC Partner)
Rev A1PSU: EVGA 850 BQ (Bronze) Ram: Corsair DDR-5200 (tried both xmp on and off) 32 GB dual channel kit.
CMK32GX5M2B5200C40SSD NVME : I dont have the model of this but a generic 1TB SSD.This computer used to only freeze when streaming and gaming. Now its becoming much more frequent and has hard frozen (Screens all stay lit, no BSOD, will sit in this state indef)Maintenance that has been performed:CPU repasted (5 months ago)PSU replace (4 months ago)Ram: Bought a kit did not install it until recently. Due to if wanting to use the full 48 g (2x8 +2x16) i would need to remove the CPU cooler again (clearance issues)
troubleshooting tried so far:
Reseat all cables
Swap out Ram sticks (i still had the original pair in when this problem start and swapped to the corsairs
PSU has been swapped back to the old PSU (replaced the PSU due to failing fan kept just in case)
GPU drivers have been both clean rolled forward and backwards
Windows has been soft reinstalled (Keep personal files in windows reset function)
tried going down from 3 monitors back to 2 or even 1.
Updated as many drivers as i could via windows update (this was before and after i did a "reset").During each step of troubleshooting i restressed the system until a crash (ironically stress tests like prime95 and firmark did not cause a crash but palworld was pretty consistent crash within 15 minutes)Temps have all been monitored and all less than 80 at the hottest spots when under standard load (gaming +streaming). Future troubleshooting:Performing and AB BA swap with my older R5 1600 computer that has a gtx 1070 in it to see if the freeze follows the GPU or the rest of the system
Im kind of at a loss and not entirely sure, but its sounding more and more like cpu/mobo (i will just replace both if i have to because i don't want to play the game of which on is it).Just curious if anyone has any ideas for narrowing this down further or if im even on the right idea here.
Note: i do not have any dumpfiles except the original one most likely from the factory well before i had the PC in my hands as the computer does not BSOD and only hard freezes.

have you done a full factory reset?

that will help and if it persists after ide say then it's hardware and not software related.

i have the same exact desktop about the same amount of time and i have had no issues.

i have also replaced the PSU-DDR5 i have 4x16 matched sticks-added more fans to the top for exhaust-put a Noctua NH-U12A air cooler on the 12700F. the 3070 still runs excellent.

when i do have issues i have geek squad remote in and do what they call a system tune-up it fixes everything.

then once a year i do a full factory reset that helps also.

have you run the system file checker program?

    the delete all %temp% files.

    temp files.

    prefetch files.

maybe get the trial of Norton utilities ultimate i have that and run it daily.

I think it could be an problem with the GPU drivers. Try to reinstall Windows 11 by using the reset PC option. Please make sure to not delete your personal files or keep a backup of it before you reset. Then try to use your PC and see if that helps.

When it freezes does the mouse stop movement, or does the mouse move but do nothing? If the mouse freezes also it's likely traceable to a bus interrupt hanging, which is usually a driver issue. A rogue driver will request exclusive access to the bus to perform some transaction, but never release, leaving everything else out in the cold.

@billsey, i lose control of the mouse - How would i go through the process of tracking the runaway driver?
@Axxo, I have updated the drivers
@chugzilla, I have done the windows "reset" with keeping personal files. Norton has been removed since day one.

Short update, right now the system appears stable. If the issues crop up again, i will try the Bestbuy tune up first since i already have their yearly support plan.

Well now i dont know if my first comment posted lol.

Just in case Billsey, the mouse does lock as well. - How would i start tracking down the rogue driver?
Axxo and chug I have tried the windows "reset" but keep personal files and have reinstalled Nvidia drivers.

Short Update - Right now the system appears stable. If the system starts acting weird again, i will try to use bestbuy's tune up as i already have their yearly support plan.

well, if you have it just start a chat with geek squad and tell them you need a tune up its really cool and works well. don't wait just tell them about it locking up and freezing. get it done asap and report back to us.

Typically if I'm trying to find a rogue driver I boot in safe mode, so only the basic drivers are loaded, then use msconfig to enable them one at a time until I can see the issue again. Very time consuming though…
