Touchpad regularly stops working on my Spin 5 SP513-54N

Hoping someone has some advice. My SP513-54N is playing up. The touchpad will stop working when I log in, it doesn't happen all the time but frequently. Pressing the F7 function key sometimes works sometimes doesn't (other function/media keys work). A reboot will sometimes work and other times I need to reinstall the touchpad software.

I've done a clean install of Windows 11.

I've downloaded and installed IO Drivers_Intel_30.100.1947.1_W10x64.

I've tried both recent touchpad drivers:

touchpad_ELANTECH_13.6.15.1_W10x64; and

TouchPad_ELANTECH_13.6.18.1_W10x64

Looking in device manager the ELAN I2C Filter Driver device for touchpad will just disappear, I'm guessing this is when the touchpad stops working.

Touchpads don't just not work or work sometimes, as if its doing that then its either a software problem (which you have tackled) but it also could be hardware problems like an FFC cable that is not making full contact with either the mainboard plug or the touchpad or the touchpad is faulty. Have the cable and touchpad checked and tested or replaced both with the parts below, as these parts don't cost too much. Good luck.

So I think I finally resolved the issue. Fingers crossed. I don't have a detailed list of what I did but I will go over it as best I can in the hope it helps others with the same issue:

went into BIOS, Ctrl + S to bring up the hidden option for Touchpad and changed this to PS2
Start windows, touchpad works but gesture functions lost, fine for next steps
Deleted and installed past installations of touchpad/elan drivers and IO.
Device manager and delete all the Human Interfac Devices. I deleted as much as I could, brute method and caused functionality issues, but relevant functions restored on reboot
Downloaded the latest versions of the
1. Serial IO Driver Intel2020/09/23 30.100.1947.1331.68
2. Serial IO DriverIntel2020/04/07 30.100.1932.6
3. Touchpad Driver ELANTECH2020/09/23 13.6.18.11.62
Installed the Seriol IO drivers first, there are various exectuables and .inf files, I just installed as much as I could. Reboot when prompted
Then install the touchpad driver. Reboot
Back into BIOS and Ctrl + S to bring up the touchpad setting and revert to I2C
Start windows and touchpad works with gestures (although personally I disable most of the gestures!)
