I have the Nitro AN515-51, I replaced the battery, now it shows 0% and won't charge

I have a Nitro AN515-51 Laptop. I updated the RAM and replaced the battery to give my machine new life. I followed all the suggested guidelines for optimizing the battery and it worked perfectly. I unplugged the machine and used it until the battery was at 10% then plugged it in and it wouldn't charge. I let the battery drain to 5%. Again it wouldn't charge. I then replaced the battery a second time thinking I may have gotten a lemon. Again the same pattern. I optimized the battery 3 times. Then the 4th charge wouldn't take. I am running Windows 10 x64 Personal. I have uninstalled and re-installed battery drivers as suggested by other posts. I have run all the updates with the exception of the Insyde Software - Firmware - 3/15/2019 12:00:00 AM - 5.11.1.22 that won't install. My power cable is the original cable from Acer, it powers my laptop and it recharged the battery 3 times so I don't think the cable is bad. I have the current ACER BIOS for my model. What else can I try?

Did your laptop fully charge with the old battery, if it did then its the battery or the adapter, check if your adapter is turning off. Test the adpter by plugging into the laptop and then taking it out and if you have a multimeter then insert the + prong into the middle and the - prong on the side and see if it outputs 19.5V if it doesn't then its your adapter.

If the adapter is working and you installed a proper genuine oem battery like a SIMPLO 4 cell 3320mAh Acer part#; KT.00407.003 or a PANASONIC 4 cell 3220mAh Acer part#; KT.00405.005 and not one of them cheap copies then the battery is not the cause of your problems and the charging problem is inside the laptop in the laptops main charging power rail, that needs to be diagnosed and fixed, so consider the above issues, as changing ram and a new battery should not stop your laptops charging.

The charging problem is internal in the laptops main charging circuitries that you need a technician to look at and fix, you can't fix this yourself. If you want to use your laptop without a battery, it is safe to use it with the adapter only. However, if the adapter is disconnected from the laptop, the laptop will shut down immediately. This can cause loss of data and may damage the internal components such as the motherboard, CPU, and RAM. It is important to ensure that the power adapter is connected correctly and intact . If you need to disconnect the adapter, make sure to save your work and shut down the laptop properly before doing so to avoid any data loss. Good luck and get your laptop fixed.

The 6-year old battery if never replaced will be my guess, replace the battery and if still no charging you have to get a larger power adapter, 280-Watt at least but make sure the pin of the DC power plug has the correct lenhth and diameter of the DC charging port in your laptop. I assume you are still on Windows10 22H2? There are no Windows11 compatible drivers yet available for your laptop.

If you get a new battery and do the full charge cycle routine (not "training", as there is no such thing as "memory effect" with batteries) don't plug in till after the laptop shuts down on its own and don't use the laptop till it is fully charged, This is required for BIOS and MS ACPI drivers to register the capacity of the new battery, you only do that once with a new battery/laptop and after a clean install of Windows or BIOS update. I wonder why BIOS version 1.22 won't install?

I have checked my power adapter and it is functioning correctly. The battery I replaced it with was "AC14B8K Laptop Battery for Acer Aspire". When I got the battery it had the exact specs and was identical to my old battery. I was able to completely charge and completely drain the battery 3 times and then it stopped charging. I returned the new battery and got a replacement and the same thing happened. It just seems too strange that it works 3 times then not at all. I will see if I can acquire one of the batteries you suggested in your post, but if there is some software/firmware issue I would just like to stop wasting my time and money chasing shadows.

Just one other question, can I run my laptop with my power adapter without a battery installed?
