So while using the laptop it suddenly shut down, then when i tried to reboot it just says "boot failed or no booting drive" (i forgot)
on the bios i noticed it didnt show the SSD name or model, it just showed "NONE" although it was connected to the laptop.
i tried resetting the bios settings, changing legacy to UEFI, (theres no option to change SATA connection), and tried connecting it to the cdrom port with a hard drive caddy.
yes it does work when i connect the ssd externally but its 10x slower.
i connected it to a different computer and it did show up and its health was pretty good.

i also tried:

  • changing the ram or putting the ram in a different port AND putting both old and new rams.
  • updating the bios.
  • power drain test or reset.
  • connecting a different harddrive to the laptop.
  • yes i did unscrew the laptop to check on it from the inside and it wasnt that dirty.
also checked the ports and they seemed ok.

something i noticed was when i removed the hard drives from the laptop the HDD led didnt light up, but when i boot the laptop with an hdd plugged in it does light up but then stops.
i have a usb drive with windows 10 on it that i can boot from but i dont know what i can do with it to fix the problem (disk managment also doesnt detect the hard drive, only externaly)

With the caddy still disconnected, if none of the HDDs show up in the BIOS Information tab (Boot tab is irrelevant at this point), then the mainboard internal storage buss or solder connections to it and the CPU have probably failed.

New mainboards with the upgrade i7 CPU cost $100usd if you order & install it yourself. Since this series was released more than a decade ago and a high risk for replacement collateral damage, it might not be worth the expense and effort to do so.

You can easily retrieve your personal files to another PC using an inexpensive 2.5" USB-to-HDD/SSD adapter shown below. Or you might even be able to use the adapter boot the HDD from the E1-572G's USB port. However, the USB buss will be very slow relative to the original internal storage buss. But you might be able to hobble along until you decide if you want to invest in a new PC.

Sorry I can't be more encouraging.

Try re-seating the HDD a half-dozen or so times to help clean the connector contacts on the drive itself and its mainboard socket. You can also gently wipe the drive's gold-colored contacts with a soft cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol to help further clean its contacts. Then see if it's recognized in the BIOS INFORMATION tab.

I did try to reseat them before and did so again but it didn't really help, the connectors looked clean and good anyway but did clean it either way, it didn't change anything.

Does the BIOS INFORMATION tab show the different HDD?

No, both HDD and the SSD don't show up but they do work on a different device.

ye it does but i replaced the cd-rom on the laptop with a hard drive caddy instead and it worked fine then until this happened.
so if the hard drive caddy doesnt work then i dont think the cd-rom will.

Does any HDD show up in the BIOS INFORMATION tab when connected to the primary HDD mainboard socket?

Nothing ever showed up in the bios model name-serial number tab ever since this problem started happening.
Both main and cd-rom port dont show any hdd name.
Used the ssd on the main board and the hdd on the caddy and vice versa (about multiple times now), no change.
i also tried ANOTHER hdd and even that didnt show up.

Nothing showed up when i tried the ssd connected to the mainport and the hdd connected to the hdd caddy and vice versa.

Even trying a 3rd hdd didnt show any changes, even after reseating them multiple times.
I did also try a cmos "wipe" from UBCD, did reset my settings + time/date but had no effect.
yes i did correct the time and date but still didnt show up, and also did a uefi to legacy setting change and vice versa.

Pull caddy. Connect only an HDD to the primary HDD mainboard socket. Nothing else except a mouse & charger to any external ports. Please post a phone photo of the BIOS Information tab if possible.

The atapi model number always showed none too regardless of having the caddy connected or not.

Well looks like this laptop finally "died" after years of using, thanks for your help anyway.

The blue USB3 port on the left side of the laptop might not be too horribly slow to use the USB-to-HDD adapter. At least you could still use the machine while you're shopping. And the adapter can always come in handy anyway if copying & pasting to and from 2.5" HDD or SSD. Good luck.
