My E5-515 was hacked yesterday. I know because at first it appeared the pointer was moving on its own, then a browser window opened, again, on its own. It then went to the website of a bank I no longer use. I closed it and it opened again. I closed it again and it opened again.
At that point, I took it offline and turned it off. I've changed my important passwords. (I'll follow up and see what minor accounts I might have.)
My question is this: can Acer support help find any and all trackers or other malware that could gave been planted by a hacker?
I don't feel safe even plugging in the machine.
It appears from the Acer website that since my machine is out of warrantee, that I cannot do live chat. There is a pay-per-service phone number, but I first wanted to ask whether that's worth doing, or should I just bring the machine to a profession locally.
I'm in rural West Virginia, so it could be a challenge.
Thanks in advance to the community!
