Nitro 17 AN17-51 after upgrading not charging anymore, Can be caused by excessive power nerd?

Hi,

Just got my AN17-51 on December 14th. Upgraded the RAM from 1x 16GB DDR5 to 2x 16GB DDR5 and extended storage by equipping the 2nd M2.SSD slot with a Samsung Pro 980 2TB. Have checked all, and all of the two products are compatible with this version of the Nitro.

It all worked like a charm for about 2 weeks, no issues at all. Only running slightly hot when gaming on full performance (nitrosense, profile: performance GPU reached 75 degrees and CPU 85 degrees celcius). Today I was gaming, nothing out of the ordinary, laptop ran fine, great FPS and temps (overall around 65 degrees celcius). All of a sudden, laptop stopped charging.

Solutions I have tried:
Acer care centre:
- Battery status check, all is good and on green. No issues there

Device manager:
- Searched for battery driver update > all up to date
- Searched for power adapter driver update > all up to date
- Un-installed battery drivers > restarted> no luck
- Un-installed powe adapter drivers > restarted> no luck

Power cycling:
- Restarting, holding power for 15 seconds
- Turning off, holding power for 15 seconds, restart manually
- Plugged charger in new wall socket (one I checked that worked with a phone charger) > no luck

Bios:
- Checking bios version> im running on version 1.06 and 1.08 came out on jan 4th (haven't upgraded and now not possible to upgrade due to only running on battery

Opened up laptop:

- Disconnected the battery unit
- Removed the extra 16GB DDR5 bank
- Removed the extra 2TB SSD (samsung 980 Pro)
- Reassembled the battery unit
- Turned laptop back on
- Still no luck, laptop only running on battery power

Options left:
Check power and if laptop is able to charge by using another, identical 230W charger like the one what came with the laptop to see if that may be broken.

Question: can it be that the original charger has broken down due to installing an extra bank of 16GB of ram and/or second M.2 SSD (samsung 980 pro)? I can't imagine that it caused this (have done these upgrades to numerous laptops in the past) but you never know.

Hoping to get some anwers or insights on this, much appreciated!
Kind regards,
Ruben

It's also happening with me and upgrading ram will never cause that issue. I think its due to more power consumption or your vents may be blocked ( This reason was on google ). Btw u can try changing charger.

Do you still see the charging light come on when the charger is plugged in?

Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
Thank you and have a nice day!

You have 1 x USB-C port with Thunderbolt 4, Power Delivery (PD), try to charge with a 90-Watt USB-C charger for laptops with a fixed thick USB-C cable. This power adapter is used for your laptop (330-Watt)

Thanks for the responses. I went to a local computer store. They had a nitro on display and could use that charger. NO luck unfortunately. The employee told me it might had something to do with the charging port or motherboard since all other options were exhausted already.

@AnhEZ28 USB-C charging port is also not working (already from the start which should have been a red flag to begin with). Also charging light (on the right side, is not lighting up).

Just called it in for repair at acer repair centre. Quite upset that this needs to be done only after 2 weeks of usage for a $1200+ laptop which is advertised as premium laptop.

Ankush_Kashyap More power consumption could be my only " external cause " guess. The vents are clean (laptop is only 2 weeks old).
