I purchased an Acer S271HL monitor in 2013. It has worked flawlessly until this morning when the screen went black all at once. Then, the monitor began to smoke out of the power connector. The power connector plug and connector on the back of the monitor melted down.  Thankfully I was home to disconnect the power and prevent a larger fire.

I cannot chat with Acer because it is out of warranty. I would think they would want to know about this as a DC fire can be quite dangerous. Apparently there have been other similar fires mentioned in this forum. Is there anything Acer will do for faulty equipment at this age? Should a recall be issued on this product?
