Hello everyone, I have bought acer swift x (SFX16-51g) one year ago and everything was good at first but as it went almost one year since buying the product there started to be problems. First time there was an error that said critical battery error and the laptop wouldn't power on or it would power on a charger but as soon as I unplugged laptop would went to hibernation, and it went on service they called me and said that there is nothing wrong with laptop so I picked it up. Laptop worked fantastic until 3 days ago, battery is full and indicator is lighted in blue. But when I try to power on laptop isn't budging at all, when plugged in laptop powers on and works for as long as 30 min or less and then goes to hibernation when plugged in, if I unplug it laptop instantly goes to hibernation. I did battery report but I don't think that battery is problem because few days before this started happening laptop could work 11 hours straight when charged on 100%. Battery report in attachment. I'm assuming that there is problem with connector on motherboard. I don't know what to do now. Do I send it to service once again and hope that they fix it this time because I have one more year of warranty but I don't have warranty on battery anymore or do something else. Any help or advice is a good thing

Reset your BIOS with F9 (in BIOS) and save settings on exit. Boot to Windows and uninstall the 2 MS ACPI battery drivers (see picture) and just reboot, the battery report shows 102% charge possibly indicating the battery capacity is not registered properly in BIOS, do a full battery charge cycle (see below), but first disable all 80% battery limiting bloatware you may be running, reset your Power Plan to factory defaults and disable Hibernate + Fast Startup in Power Plan "Change what closing the lid does" and "Change settings currently unavailable".

How to perform a Full Charge Cycle: Unplug all peripherals, USB devices, monitors, docking stations and monitors. Shut down the proper way by clicking on Start (taskbar) and the Power-Shutdown icon. Close the lid and plug in the power adapter, let the laptop charge till the amber charge LED turns blue and wait another 10 minutes, Boot to Windows and verify the battery is charged 100%, unplug the adapter and use your laptop till it turns itself off automatically, close the lid and plug in the adapter, charge to 100% again till the amber light turns blue + an extra 10 minutes. That's it.

Hello, thanks for trying to help, I did everything you said and only thing that changed is that in the battery report now isn't 102% instead it shows everything on 100% as it should be. I could turn laptop on for a short time before I restarted power plan and did a full charging cycle. Laptop started and there was an error: critical battery error and then it powers off. After I did full charging cycle as you said here I unplugged laptop from charger and it was working for about 30 seconds before powering off(both blue light(status) and flashing amber light(battery). I will try to upload a video that will show what exactly happens when laptop is unplugged from charger. I can only upload zip or rar file so I hope that you could open it.

Yes, I watched that vid OK, the amber power LED flashing at the beginning is indicating S3 or Sleep Mode state and it turned off (shut down), the amber battery LED flashing means low charge, either not charging (adapter issue) or a bad plug/DC port problem. The blue battery LED flashing could indicate: a faulty battery, bad contacts, or a faulty power adapter.

I am assuming that you are using the "brick" 90-Watt power adapter with DC barrel power plug that came with the SwiftX and not a USB-C charger? Please type @Puraw at the top of your reply so I will get an alert.

IMO, you have a hardware issue, and your Acer warranty is now for 2-years so I don't recommend opening the laptop for a power drain and CMOS reset procedure, instead bring the laptop and your power adapter to Acer Services in your country to check the power port/cable and reset the system to factory defaults for a small service fee. Hopefully that is all it takes. 😁

@Puraw thanks for answering, yes I'm using DC barrel power plug. I will contact acer service and tell them to check power port/cable and to check battery and contacts.
