I just bought this laptop and I love it but I find it very odd that the battery needs 3 hours to charge after about 5 hours of use. Anyone else have this issue? and what I can do so that the battery charge can last longer?

What is your full model and year: Aspire 3 A315-58 2021? What model power charger (DC barrel type plug) are you using: 65-Watt? How old is the battery if more than 3 years it may have a dead cell: Did you run Windows Battery Report to check the condition? What Windows version is installed and if W11 this should be 23H2 22631.2861, did you update BIOS with the latest version for your model?

I got this laptop on Sunday Dec 17 2023 and I got the latest version of W11 23H2. No I didn't get the latest BIOS.

Yes the model of my laptop is Aspire 3 A315-58, I just checked the bios is v1.34 and there is a v1.35 do you recommend me to get it?

Yes, update your BIOS with version 1.35 and you did not say what type of adapter you are using, brick type with barrel plug, what is the Watt? Type @Puraw at the top of your reply so I will get an alert.

After you updated the BIOS also reset the battery with the small pinhole at the back with the battery symbol. Stick a pin in that hole and you should feel a click from the micro-switch, keep it pressed down for a minute. Then uninstall the 2 battery drivers (see picture) and just reboot.

@Puraw I got 1.35v. I am using what came out of the box and yes it's a brick type output 45.1W if this helps.

@Puraw I already did the reset the battery with the small pinhole at the back with the battery symbol last week with a Acer tech over the phone, should I do it again?

A 3 hours charge for a new laptop seems very long, send your laptop back to where you bought the laptop from as you have a faulty charging system in this new Aspire A315-58 laptop. Btw, this laptop also came with a 19v/1.7Amps/65W charger, but you should not need a higher output charger with a new laptop that was distributed with a 19V/1.2Amps/45W charger. Btw there are 3 different batteries that Acer fitted to this laptop which are a 2 cell 4870mAh/a 2 cell 4810mAh and 3 cell 3831mAh batteries.

No, but your power adapter should be at least 65 Watt to enable fast charging and I recommend you uninstall those 2 battery drivers I showed in that picture.

@Puraw 65 Watt but why didn't it come with the laptop? How do I get it? And I did uninstall those 2 battery drivers you showed in the picture, they were gone but when I rebooted my laptop they came back, what does that do?

I called ACER and spoke with a technician, he had me press on the power button for a min. and reset the battery on the bottom of the laptop, I will have to see how that works. I used to have an ACER Chromebook and I noticed that when the battery reaches 100% as soon as you unplug it from the charger it drops to 99% and so does this laptop. I will have to see if it still takes 3 hours for a full charge or once it hits 98% I will just unplug it.
