Hello.

I have a small issue and maybe you know the answer.

I have a brand new Acer Nitro 17

I bought a 2TB flash drive with 2 connections, USB 3.0 and USB Type-C. On 3.0 it's working fine but when I try to connect it on Type- C it says "Please insert disk into drive D:". Windows tells me that everything is ok, drivers up to date, that is a mass storage device bla bla.

I tried this flash drive on other devices and everything is ok. I tried other Flash drives on my laptop and everything is ok. It just doesn't want to read this particular one on USB Type-C

:)))))

Opinions please

    type c drivers that this device uses may not be compatible with the default ones? Happened to me to one specific port extender - it connects to type c on other 2 laptops but not my gaming one.

    is your type c a thunderbolt? check the TB versions too. Mine turned out to be TB 3 compatible, but my newer laptop has TB 4 ports and this doesn't work on it.

    You have 2 USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (up to 10 Gbps) ports withTunderbolt4 support, did you try both ports? Reboot: See if a simple reboot can recognize the USB. Is the 2TB Flash drive formatted as exFAT or NTFS? Read this link using Disk Management:

    @Archhy

    That's a good point @Puraw bought up mentioning it has TB4 ports. Though TB4 ports have to be backwards compatible with TB3, unfortunately they aren't with most (in my case it was HP branded). I must say it works with the extender that has only usb ports on it. The one with issue has display ports too on it (and the type c on mine supports display out on type c ports). You might want to mention this to the manufacturer to make sure their device is supported on TB4 ports.
