After a year of use, the laptop screen has turned black and now won't boot. There is no logo, the lights on the left are on. Rebooting, fn+f6 and other such things do not work. Esc+Fn+Power shows the TianoCore logo. I haven't tried to update the bios yet because I'm not sure if it's the problem

Since you can see a logo we know the display is working. Since the Acer splash screen doesn't show we also know it's not getting into POST, or at least not very far. The TianoCore logo is the UEFI shell, I believe. That indicates it's getting farther than I expected, since the UEFI shell usually isn't loaded until POST has gotten far enough to get ready to load the OS. In a normal environment the system first turns power to the motherboard on, initializes the bottom end of memory then starts executing the CMOS code. That initializes the video, puts the splash screen up then tests the rest of memory. It continues through PST with the drive coming up and all other components doing their self tests, then it loads the filesystem, mounts the EFI partition and loads the EFI file. To get the EFI shell that last load has to fail. Perhaps your drive has gone bad, or some malware has overwritten the EFI files? Try booting into the BIOS to turn on the boot menu, then booting from a Windows install flash drive…
