The touchpad and touchscreen of my laptop stopped working. I have an acer spin SP314-21. I already looked up how I can fix it and tried several things, but they only worked for a short while and then after some time of using my laptop, the touchpad and/or touchscreen stop working again. I found out that the moment it stops working, it is no longer visible in the Human Interface Devices in device management (Device Management > Human Interface Devices (HID)). I don't know what causes this (if someone knows what might be causing this, I would love to hear what it could be).

I read that I can install the driver for the touchpad again (because the touchpad is of more importance for me, I want to try and fix this one first. Via the acer site I found the list of drivers for my laptop (after entering the SNID). Above this list: the following is mentioned above this list: "Before installing the Touchpad driver, please install the Serial I/O driver first." So I tried to find where I can find this Serial I/O driver, but could not find the answer to this.

Can someone help me and tell me if this is the right solution and if yes, where and how I can download the Serial I/O driver. I would really appreciate it since I have been struggling with the issue of the touchpad not working for months and it has been a struggle to study with a laptop and mouse while traveling to university.

With your model the Serial IO drivers are included in the Chipset driver package.
