Recently I noticed that the screen on my Acer Swift 3 started “peeling off” from the keyboard, however I could still press it and it would go back to normal. However I opened my laptop and the screen went much farther and the laptop stopped turning on. Is there a way to fix it, or should I go and just retrieve the memory card at this point?

It looks like the hinges are pulling away from the mounts. It's not unusual on any of the 'thin and light' designs for laptops, they use a lot less plastic when designing the cases to keep the weight down, and the screw holes aren't deep enough to give a really solid grip. Opening the laptop too quickly or from the side instead of the center causes enough extra strain on the screws to allow them to pull loose over time. You can open it up and rebuild the screw mounts with a metal epoxy to get it back to working, preferably before the screen breaks due to the torque. It shouldn't affect the system turning on though. Which Swift 3 model do you have? Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like SF3xx-xxx-xxxx.
