There are two SODIMM slots for up to 32GB, This Acer Nitro 17 AN17-51-70CB model supports DDR4 PC4-25600 3200MHz Non-ECC SODIMM memory: https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k16g4sfra32a/ct18678609 2x 16GB (32GB) will work fine.

Thanks for the fast reply. I just bought this today from the Acer site. The Acer site specs say DDR5 SDRAM? Confused https://www.acer.com/us-en/laptops/nitro/nitro-17-intel/pdp/NH.QK6AA.001

Just to give you more detail, as the below tables are the ram specs of what Acer recommends for your Nitro AN17-51 laptop that you should follow for what your laptop max ram is and for any upgrades.

In my opinion the best way to upgrade ram is to follow what is already installed in your laptop, especially with a high-end laptop like you have. Install the CPUz software and look under this software's SPD section at the oem ram specs that is running in your laptop, which by the Nitro 17 AN17-51-70CB memory specs is 16GB DDR5 type ram, so to upgrade, look at CPUz SPD section at the exact manufacturer and serial number of the 16GB DDR5 SO-DIMM ram and then search the web and add the exact same 16GB DDR5 additional ram module to upgrade your laptop to its max ram capacity of 32GB, that is the easiest and safest way to upgrade to a working ram, its a very simple process.

If you further want to increase the performance of your Nitro 17 laptop, also upgrade the boot SSD1 from its oem PCIe4x4 M.2 SSD drive to the fastest and top speed Gen 4 M.2 SSD which is the 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD 1TB MZ-V9P1T0BW as the combination of 32GB DDR5 total ram and the Gen 4 Samsung M.2 drive will make your laptop the quickest and a very useful gaming and editing high-end platform. Good luck and hope this helps you out

Thank you both for the info. I did buy the Samsung 990 PRO Series - 1TB PCIe Gen4. X4 NVMe 2.0c - M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V9P1T0B/AM) -53% $79.99 Amazon today. I'm looking forward for this laptop. Thx again

Yes It's confusing on memory sites claiming ddr4 on the Nitro 17 AN17-51-70CB. Trying to get the Black Friday memory deals. Thanks again for your help.

Good afternoon everyone. I have a question about ddr5 for acer nitro 17 (model an17-51) I want to add ddr5 2x16 gb! But, not 4800 MHz but 5200 MHz, will my board and processor support this speed?

    @StevenGen

    hello sir.

I have a couple question regarding my Nitro 17 AN17-41-R8N5,

1- Where do you get the info from your screenshots about the System memory? I tried the

https://www.crucial.com/, but doesnt give me that info, same with CPUz.

2- Currently I have this for RAM

In your opinion what is the best brand to upgrade to 32GB ( I know it would be 2 each of 16GB) for the fastest speed.

3- This what I currently have for a 1TB SSD SAMSUNG MZVL21T0HCLR-00B07. I want to upgrade that also. Is this still your current recommendation for an upgrade, 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD 1TB MZ-V9P1T0BW? If so will that same model work for me?

4- If I do upgrade the SSD, how do I transfer everything from the original SSD to the new SSD to include my operating system, and will boot flawlessly?

    thank you

Hey mrekimf,😁the specifications and detailed captions that Acer ranked community members provide on the Acer forum are all officially from the Acer service guides for the appropriate Acer products, which are not available to non raked members. So that is why you have no access to this info for your Nitro AN17-41-R8N5 laptop. Here is all the info that you need.

M.2 SSDs for the AN17-41-R8N5 laptop

With the M.2 SSD drives for your Nitro AN17-41-R8N5 laptop as it uses all Gen 4x4 lane type M.2 SSD drives, I suggest that you use the Samsung 1TB 990 Pro NVMe + Heatsink, like I'm using in my Predator PHN16-71 also, and its because its the quickest M.2 SSD and its got the best support software, and I can recommend this drive.

But REMEMBER THIS as in your Nitro laptop Nitro AN17-41-R8N5 laptop case, I'm NOT 100% sure if the the 990 Pro NVMe + Heatsink M.2 SSD will fit, so do your research first before you buy the 990 Pro with Heatsink and if it doesn't fit, buy the 990 Pro without Heatsink, as I can't guarantee that any oem M.2 SSD drives with Heatsink will fit your Nitro laptop?

I also use Samsung drives because they have the best SSD tuning and monitoring software and cloning software called Data Migration that is all bundled into their software called Magician for all their M.2 SSD drives and this software makes really easy to clone new drives also.

So if you buy a Samsung 990 Pro NVMe drive you use their Magician software to clone your old Samsung 1TB MZVL21T0HCLR-00B07 drive, its a very easy process as you put the new 990 Pro NVMe drive into your AN17-41-R8N5 laptop SSD2 slot and use Magician > Data Migration to clone the old drive onto the new drive which takes about max 10 min max.

Then take the old boot drive out and insert the new cloned 990 Pro NVMe into SSD1 boot slot and boot the laptop. Afterwards just put your old Samsung 1TB MZVL21T0HCLR-00B07 drive into the SSD2 slot and format the drive to GUID (GPT) with Disk Management and use this drive as a storage 1TB 2nd SSD drive. Its a very simple process.

These are the quickest 1TB or 2TB Gen 4 x4 M.2 SSD drives on the market today as tested by Tom's Hardware

    1. Samsung 990 Evo - 6,939MB/s
    2. Crucial T500 SSD - 6,904MB/s
    3. Corsair MP600 Elite SSD - 6,707MB/s

    RAM for the AN17-41-R8N5 laptop

Now with your Nitro 17 AN17-41-R8N5 and its max ram, your laptop has the AMD Ryzen™ 7 - 7735HS cpu, this AMD cpu has a max design ram capacity of 64GB @ max DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 type ram - NOT XMP overclocked ram - @ 2x 32GB DDR4800MT/s CL40 max - DO NOT buy DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 type ram, as your laptop will never ever reach that ram speed and if you do buy 5600MT/s speed ram, it will be downclocked to 4800MT/s speed. I recommend Crucial ram as Crucial ram is a Micron ram anyway and that is what I use in my Predator PHN16-71 and its working flawlessly and 100%. Good luck and hope all this helps you out.

These are the Crucial RAM kits that you should use and buy:

    Crucial 64GB Kit (32GBx2) DDR5-4800 SODIMM

    • CT2K32G48C40S5
    • Configuration ID: CT25589248

    DDR5-4800 • CL=40 • Non-ECC • SODIMM • 262-pins • 1.1V • 2Rx8 based • PC5-38400

    Crucial 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR5-4800 SODIMM

    • CT2K16G48C40S5
    • Configuration ID: CT25589265

    DDR5-4800 • CL=40 • Non-ECC • SODIMM • 262-pins • 1.1V • 1Rx8 based • PC5-38400

    Crucial 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR5-5600 SODIMM

    • CT2K8G56C46S5
    • Configuration ID: CT25589252

    DDR5-5600 • CL=46 • Non-ECC • SODIMM • 262-pins • 1.1V • 1Rx16 based • PC5-44800

1 quick question after reading some reviews of the Samsung 990 Pro NVMe drive, can I keep the original SSD after doing the migration as a backup, since some of the Samsung 990 Pro NVMe drives have had issues, and samsung wont do a swap, they want you to send in the damaged one for repair or replace before sending a new one.
