ACER Swift SF514-51 No 75Hz via HDMI with my new Samsung S27A600UUU - Please advice - Thank you

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen

I currently use an ACER Swift SF514-51 (Intel i7-7500U 2,7GHz) with Windows 10 Home 64-Bit. Today I bought a new Samsung S27A600UUU which can be used with 2560 x 1440 (QHD) at 75Hz max. Further, I use a HDMI cabel to connect it to the ACER but just 60Hz are available in all settings (Windows, Intel and so forth). The actual driver version is 23.20.16.4973 / 28.02.2018 / Intel and I cannot update it (when this is the underlying issue) due to OEM reasons. Any advice how to change to the desired 75Hz. is very much appreciated.

The fact that your Windows10 display setting defaults to 60 Hz means that the Samsung monitor RR is not Windows compatible, or your cable is not HDMI 2.1

Your issue is with the old laptop and it's builtin GPU. Here are the supported resolutions:

As you can see, everything is at 60Hz, none at 75Hz.

A polite question: Is it now the HDMI cable type (2.1) what I need or is the gpu the issue?

It looks like @billsey got it right, 60 Hz refresh rate is the GPU limit for this laptop.

Are you using the duplicated or extended display option? You can use the Intel driver & support assistant to update the Intel driver. Don't need to worry about the OEM warning.

It's not the cable type, your system has an HDMI 1.4 port, so doesn't support the higher frequencies that HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 supports. Remember that the Intel specs are for the main video channel, used for the laptop screen, the HDMI port is a secondary channel.

Currently, I only use one display without the duplicated or extended display option.

Unfortunately, I cannot install the most recent Intel graphic driver because, within the installation process, I get an error and cancellation message pertaining the manufacturer (notebook) adjusted graphics (I shall download any driver from the manufacturer's homepage but there is no up-to-date driver).

Try Intel's Drive Update and Support Assistant, not just a driver download, and check the box that allows you to install the latest. That will get you to the latest driver, but if the hardware doesn't support 75Hz you still won't get the faster refresh. Live with 60Hz.
