help with ram? how would i place the ram sticks? po3- 640 (i7-12700f, 3070)

i asked this question about a year ago, and i hope since then, this might have been fixed?

back then there was some issues with only some types of ram beign able to be used at full potential in this pc. XMP to be avoided as this motherboard could not use it?

also there was some issues regarding how much ram you could fit into it,..64/ or as some other site claimed- 128

since its been a while now i was hoping there was some more clarity regarding this as i still have not upgraded my ram, but am going to this xmas.

i seen people write to get ram with jedec profile,..but when i look at ram most say they have jedec prifile, but that they are xmp ready. are those rams to avoid?

That memory has a base speed of 2400MHz and will only run faster when XMP overclocking is enabled. Since XMP isn't supported on the PO3 models, it (and any other memory installed) will run at 2400 on your system, slowing things down.

how can you tell what the base speed is?

if the base speed of the rtam is 3200, would that be good to use, even if it was xmp enabled?

Base speed is usually called out in the spec on the memory, but often somewhat hidden. In that link it was almost at the bottom… I don't know of any XMP DDR4 memory with a base speed much higher than 2400, most has 2133. You just want regular memory, not XMP, at the speed appropriate for your computer. so 3200… Look for PC4-25600, like this from Amazon (sorry, not in Norwegian).
