Unfortunately, Acer has discontinued support for this old Aspire desktop and there is no service guide (which I would have helped you out with) but Acer does still have some minor driver support for this desktop here at this link Aspire M3970G, or there are better sites for more support for this desktop, so have a look here at this link DriverHelp Aspire M3970G as you will get all the drivers that you need on this link including bios updates. Also, I do understand and fully appreciate what you are trying to do as you should be commended that your son is interested in computers as its going to help him out so much, keep the good work up 👍👍👍and if there is anything that we can help you with don't hesitate to ask.

Btw, I do fully understand all that you are trying to do as I've also been helping my nephew out for years with computers that he is also interested in, he is a 10-year-old boy and he also is an Autistic boy and he loves computers and is very proficient in all aspects of computers and I'm also helping him out all that I can. Good luck and hope that my links have helped you out.

Are you enrolled at Driverhelp ? I'd be very suspicious of trojans there.

Pleas post an Acer site that has ACER INFORMATION

If he builds a computer from scratch, it won't be an ACER but many vendors. Newegg, Tiger Direct and others have info and kits but ACER's are completely assembled

Listen I don't know exactly who you are but you are correct ACER's do come completely assembled. But see with an 20yr old gaming desktop that was donated to him. And didn't come assembled but disassembled but with most of the parts being there. I've already acquired the rest of the parts but the point is is to show him and allow him to do it himself. See, I do build computers not for living but for fun also it's for a child with special needs that is on Social Security with a father that is also on disability so maybe you want to think before you comment on somebody so we don't have the money to buy a kit but if you could afford to buy us one not a problem I'll send you my address in a personal message and one more thing to that you must not know too much about computers because just about every piece that's in a computer whether it's a PC desktop or a laptop is many many different manufacturers of parts and chips and the whole nine yards there's not one company that builds a computer that is their own everybody has a piece of the pie but thank you and have a wonderful day

One lastOne last thought Larryodie I could just throw the easy route and once he put it back together just load Microsoft's generic drivers for every manufacturer out there but that's not going to show me anything except for how to cheat

WHY JUMP ON ME as I was only suggesting ? It's a good thing that you're doing but with a 10 year old Windows 8 computer the route is failure. I'm on my 20th year of SSA.
