Received new battery today and installed it however the issue still persists so that rules out a problem with the battery itself. I'm hoping it's not a motherboard issue but could there be a component causing a build up of static on the motherboard?

Post a screenshot of the new battery report to make sure the new battery looks OK. Next step may be a factory reset. A reset would provide an opportunity to set a bigger restore point cache just in case an errant update is responsible.

New battery seems okay, can see change at 22:33 on the 5th. Going to sound stupid but would removing my SSD before a factory reset be okay as I have a lot of important files I do not want to lose?

    OK.

But the original SSD should have the hidden ACER OEM factory recovery partition. It's needed to reset your machine. So it can't simply be removed.

However, before doing any kind of a reset, you should backup your personal files or the entire drive to an external drive like a USB stick. You can use Windows utilities, Acer Care Center or something like AO MEI Backupper freeware to do this.

Sorry it's been a while. I've completed 2 seperate factory resets this past month but this has not solved the issue so it's looking much more likely to be a hardware issue.

    (1) Why did you do two resets?

    (2) Did you turn on SystemProtection immediately after each reset?

The first one I selected the option to keep all my files in case I didn't need to move files over to an external drive. As the issue persisted after the first reset, I went for a harder reset and wiped all personal files and started from scratch.

As far as I am aware I did not turn on SystemProtection after each reset. I have just looked and it is currently on, with the furthest restore point back being the 9th January. I completed the latest factory reset on the 31st December.

Did you do the factory reset with internet connection disabled in order to temporarily block any errant updates that might be causing this issue?

I did not. I will do another reset without an internet connection and then create a restore point straight afterwards and see how it goes from there.
